Kicking off the special looks is a”Kay Yow” iteration, which serves as a continuation of Nike‘s homage to influential basketball coach Sandra Kay Yow. This release comes dressed in Kay Yow’s signature Black and Pink color scheme. Majority of the upper is done in Black with Pink accents on the tongue tab, medial heel Swoosh, midfoot Swoosh, insole and outsole. Completing the design are Pink Ribbons on the heels.
The Nike Hyperdunk has been at the forefront of the basketball shoe market ever since Kobe Bryant first debuted them in the 2008 Olympics. The shoe has received many a special iteration over the years, and one of the longest-running partnerships is with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, started to honor beloved NC State Women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who passed away from the disease in 2008.
